Colchester Military Festival
15th/16th July

"OH MY GOD! - HOW MANY PEOPLE!"
There were hordes of them.  They destroyed the display,  they pestered,  they ran us ragged and that Sun....

But it was worth it.  One day of complete mayhem and one day of "Where did every body go" syndrome. It was intense but good. We also found out that if you do not use a rope barrier they pick every thing up.  At one point we had to send a squadie after the groups LAW 66 that was being passed around from person to person and was getting further and further away from us.

Then our display caught fire. I hasten to add, not from anything we did, but from a 25pdr firing in the arena in front of us. Smoldering wadding was blown onto the kit  and the towel in the Bergen display started to give of smoke.

This event was, for us, one of the highlights of the year. The only thing we found out all too late were the earwigs which when we unpacked crawled out from all the folds, nooks and crannies.

Next time.. Mallet time..

 WAR & PEACE SHOW, BELTRING

19th to 23rd July

Well what can I say about this one....GAWD it was hot....TOO hot. We were not situated well and the traffic pass us was light but we got a very good response from those that did seek us out. Unfortunately a family emergency meant that we had to leave on the Saturday so we missed the two busiest days...

We also had a Fox CVR(W) to bolster the display which was on loan from J.Penton (Thanks for this John). Again we failed to get uniformed shots but we did provide crew for an FV432.

Scott as Commander of the FV432. We are gutted we did not get a picture of his face when the driver went over the Knife edge.

How not to wear your beret which was hurriedly replaced for this picture of me in patrol order with the PRC349 Radio.
