WAR AND PEACE 2005
Beltring
was to be our debut event and was a last minute rush where
the idea for the display came together at the last minute. With rush purchasing of pieces
of equipment and uniforms before hand. Two days into the show we
were still trying to track bits down.
A lot was learnt and the response from
the public was excellent and more so from ex-service men who could not
help but ask t o play with the SLR's. We were that busy we did not
have
time to look around the show properly and we forgot
to take pictures of
the display and ourselves.

It is amazing what a bit of cheek can
do. We managed to persuade the owner of this FV-432 to give us a trip
around the main arena.

WAR
WHEELS
2nd/3rd September 2005
After a few quick
emails and phone calls we were booked into War Wheels which was a
relative new event local to us. Since Beltring we had been busy buying
new tentage and it was an ideal event to try things out at
along with a new trailer, which had not long
been finished was fully tested.
The response was again very encouraging
but the show was a bit hectic at times as other members were on
holiday
so we were a bit short handed. It seemed that besides the SLR's;
the
Spangles in the ration packs were our star display item.

SHERWOOD FOREST TIME
TRAIL
1st/2nd October 2005
This was our first official event so we were a bit
apprehensive but we found that the response from the public and the warm
reception by members of the other groups participating very encouraging.
We learnt a lot from this show and our thanks goes to Howard from
Event Plan for inviting us. We would also like to thank the members
of the Manchester Regiment 1914-1918 for their advice and friendship.

Whilst at the show we had our pictures
taken by a photographer for Skirmish magazine who also did a review of
the show on his website which also included a full web page on then
group.
You can check these pages out at www.randlesreviews.co.uk
under the living history and groups sections. Again the Spangles is what
every one spotted and commented on.

East Berlin Day
Crich
Tramway Museum: 6th November 2005

This was a sort of official
gate crash, where the
organizers welcomed our involvement even though we would be out of
place. The day arrived and the weather was very,
very wet and its the only
time we have had to paddle a car uphill as water pored down the roads
from every where. As we arrived the rain eased off until
we got out of the car and some way from shelter, then the heavens opened...
I had decided to wear my waterproof jacket
which turned out to be a wise choice.
As this was billed as an East Berlin day
which was to celebrate the fall of the
Berlin wall (1989) we broke out the Mk.6 Helmets and
SA80's. This event made us rethink our time line and
latter we decided to include 1989 within the
scope of the groups activities which in
hindsight was the year that ended the Cold War.

For this show which we were using more as a photo opportunity we were
representing the Cheshire regiment which gave us a chance to show off
the berets.
